Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, this role will act as the bridge between Chén̓chenstway Human Resources, Community members, and the Education Employment and Training department. This role will provide Talent support to members seeking employment with the Nation through feedback, discussion and connection with the EE&T Department. The role will require frequent member interaction and must have a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate with courtesy, tact and diplomacy. The incumbent will keeps all Squamish Nation and Member information strictly confidential.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the Squamish Nation Talent needs, understanding of required skills and how to engage community members who wish to work for Squamish Nation.
  • Collaborates and communicates successfully with Member applicants on skills requirement and other related to application, interview, etc.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities for meaningful collaboration and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Works directly with Member applicants to develop a greater understanding of the Talent needs/skills and any issues that arise.
  • Liaises with Ta7lnewas Education Employment and Training to support applicants who aren’t’ successful in their application / obtaining employment.
  • Liaises with hiring managers to provide support for their conversations with member/employee applicants.
  • Promptly responds to Member/Employee inquiries.
  • Provides support to Talent and HR teams as required.
  • Assist and contribute to the implementation of new initiatives and projects across HR.
  • Adheres to workplace health & safety policies, safe work practices and procedures.
  • Contributes to the Squamish Nation Chén̓chenstway Human Resources team to achieve position and department goals.

Education, Level of Experience & Hiring Requirements:

  • Completion of Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Benefits Management or associated field plus 2-3 years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • As career progresses, incumbent may be required to successfully complete job-related, short-term upgrading, training and courses relating to HR programs/functions, coordination, employment law, computer software applications, etc.Knowledge of Squamish Nation and mainstream HR policies, practices and protocols is preferred.
  • Experience in HR practices and full cycle recruitment.
  • Working knowledge of job evaluation and job analysis systems
  • Experience as an intermediate to advanced level user of Microsoft Office Applications – Outlook (Email), Excel, Word, Internet, Desktop Publishing, etc.
  • Experience working in a First Nations environment is considered an asset.
  • Must provide a valid Criminal Records Check as per Squamish Nation Policy.
  • May be willing to consider similar education/work experience where incumbent has demonstrated positive relationships, with collaborative communications and engagement with Members or similar group.

Starting Salary: $59,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
