Who We Are

Squamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present-day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson’s Landing, and Squamish River watershed. The Squamish Nation has occupied and governed the territory since beyond recorded history. The Squamish Nation's culture is rich and resilient. We continue to practice our customs and traditions, which are strongly interconnected with our traditional territory. As an organization, we provide support to the greater Squamish Nation Community through service. With 11 departments with individual areas of expertise, we ensure Community Members have access to necessary programs and services.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Working as an integral part of the Ayas Men Men Child & Family Services Department, this position reports directly to the Team Leader, Child, Youth & Community Awareness, this position works in concert with Ayas Men Men Case Management to provide children and youth in care with one-on-one support as part of interdisciplinary case management. Also incorporates traditional Squamish teaching and values into a year-round calendar of recreational and cultural activities and programs (with support from volunteers) for children/youth in care, and for any children/youth who want to learn to live in balance (i.e. balance of physical, mental, spiritual and emotional self).

  • Able to deliver negative information tactfully and diplomatically when needed. Acts ethically and handles sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, approachable attitude.

  Starting Salary: $ 20.26 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefit program.
